Newington Road no’s 38 to 58 and no 24 (“Windyridge”)

These nine houses form part of a unique terrace (“Charmouth Terrace”) consisting of a row of identical late-Victorian double-storyed semi-detached houses which were erected at the turn of the twentieth century (1899 – 1900) and have since remained unaltered.

24 Newington Road

Located in Dickens Street, between Westbourne and Newington Roads this example of authentic Victorian architecture in Port Elizabeth was known as “St George’s Terrace” and is typical of townhouses built in the 1880’s.

Only one is still intact, “Windyridge”.
